There are several publications that have come out that seem to contradict one another, and the biblical scriptures. There are even biblical prints that contradict one another. How do we resolve them?

I found that there are some basic principles that apply to challenge new doctrine.

A short list of principles

1. Does the new doctrine remove scripture altogether?
   a. Does the scripture remove impure, or amoral sexuality, from the sin list?
2. Does the new doctrine focus on things of this world?
   a. Like praying for that new mansion? Or a million dollars? Or some trip to the Bahamas?
   b. There is nothing wrong with these things, but praying for them is using the Lord’s name in vain.
3. Who is glorified by the fulfillment of the prayer?
   a. I pray for a game with no injuries when there is a sports game that I am watching. Anything about winning or losing is glory to this world, and vain. The winning team always get the glory, even if the quarterback takes to hid knee to pray. Then he is glorified.
4. Does it motivate people to search the scriptures?
   a. If it is feely good story, or a back from the dead story, and hasn’t been verified in scripture, then it is suspect at best, and false at worst.
   b. All new doctrine must fit hand in glove with the rest of the doctrine. Failure to do so means that this is not from Elohim.

What about the published scriptures?

1. Age of the publication is not the key.
   a. That is some really old documents have been proven to be fake from the outset. There is a reason that the scriptures were canonized the way that they were.
   b. The age is extremely important. That is, if the document is traceable to 300 AD, and from Nicaea, and correlates with other historical documents from the era, then you are in pretty good shape. (This is one of many reasons why the bible out of Iran is so easily dismissed. Also it doesn’t fit with the rest of the narrative of the scriptures.)
2. Is it a problem that 18, more or less, verses are missing from one publication or another?
   a. Yes, but not in a way that you may think. We have generations on generations of translator notes after translator notes filed away, and not all in the Vatican. Some of these notes have aged, while some have had one translator write over another’s notes. This isn’t treachery, but the ongoing attempt to provide the most accurate translation to people that no longer read or write in these dead language.
3. “Our church has completely removed the scriptures focusing on sexual impropriety, and sin.” It is time to move on. That church is no longer representing God.
   a. Look, it is fine to not rub sin in a sinner’s face, when you are trying to preach the light and love of God to them. However to act like they are not living in sin ignores several core factors.
   a.1. Removing from God’s word will result from God’s grace being removed from you.
   a.2. Adding to God’s word will result in the punishment of sin being added to you.
   a.3. All sin is worthy of death, so leaving in murder, but not sexual impropriety is an inconsistency.
   a.4. If God got it wrong by being firm about sex, then how did he get anything right?
4. Does the scripture glorify, of support the nature of man?
   a. There is actually a bible out there that has so re-written Romans 13 that it blatantly supports authoritarian rule of man’s government, when it doesn’t. Roman’s 13 was written by a man who stood against government and was jailed for it. The grace message he taught was of a man who defied government and was lashed and crucified for it. So the problem with the misunderstanding of Roman’s 13 is that people see it is authority, meaning government, when it means authority as in God’s power.

This is in no way an exhaustive list, however, following these principles you will be better armed against false doctrine.

Ephesians 4:9 (Now this expression, “He ascended,” what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.) 11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. 14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
