This happens every 7th Shabbat year. It is Yobel, which happens at the end of 7 shmita years (Sabbatical years). Every 7th year is a shmita year, where the land is given a rest, as are the servants, herds, etc. At the end of every 7th shmita is a Jubilee. This is where all debts are cleared, slaves are freed, and land is returned to the family that it was apportioned to. This includes lands taken by foreigners.
Apparently we are in a Jubilee cycle. There are debates as to this being 1 year, or 7. It isn’t clear. What is clear is that the prior recognized Jubilee re-established Israel in 24 hrs. by UN edict. Like the Canaanites, the Palestinians were given few options. Leave. Surrender to the Bnei’Israel (Sons of Israel), or fight to extinction.
All who understand the Palestinian plight understand that this is not an easy answer, especially when the Palestinians are a mix of Muslims and Christians. Due to Roman occupation, both had been there for 2 thousand years.
You can find the rules on this in Leviticus 25:8-13. These rules were both expounded upon, and clarified in other books of the bible, such as Deuteronomy, Jeremiah,
One of the rules of the Jubilee is the returning of the house of the resident to the heritage owner of the land, except when the house is in a walled city. It almost makes sense that the politicians want to wall in their countries.
Since the 49th year was a sabbatical year, and 50th (Jubilee) is also sabbatical, then there were 2 years of no planting or harvesting. It took plenty of preparation for this, since there would be no harvest until the 3rd year.
A lesser claim is that the 50th year is Jubilee, but the effects of the Jubilee is a whole 7 years. Depending on the interpretation, that could be no planting or harvesting for 7 years, or after celebrating the Jubilee for the 1 year on the 50th year, the effects of the Jubilee continue to unfold for 6 more years. Meaning land continues to return to Bnai’Israel.
So we are now in the throws of the end of the Gregorian year 2020 CE, or if you like 2020 AD. Many have claimed that we entered into the Jubilee in 2017, 2018, 2019, or 2020. If we are to follow the Hebraic pattern, and the claim that spring 1948 was in the middle of a Jubilee year, then the next one would have been in 1998. It would be a shame if the Jubilee year was peaked by Clinton-Lewinsky scandal, 6.1 Earthquake in Afganistan, FDA approves Viagra, etc. This also makes the next one 2048.
However, there is another claim. One knows the Jubilee by the primary signs. 1. The return of land to Israel. 2. The return of Bnai’Israel to the Torah. Torah means both the word of God, and it means the first 5 books of the bible. In 2019 and 2020 we saw land returned to Israel. We also saw the temple mound re-established under Israeli authority. Though I don’t know what that means yet. 3. We have seen a large number of Jews, and non-Judean Hebrew return to the Torah, and more importantly, come to see Yeshua as the Messiah.
Were we wrong about the Jubilee year, is this the Jubilee year?

Really none of those are good arguments to declare a Jubilee.
Summary:
We need the Sanhedrin to declare the next Jubilee, so we know when it will happen, and we can document the event properly. Also note: 2020 is the year that the 8th red heifer was found and sacrificed, construction of the 3rd temple approved, and the Sanhedrin re-established in their proper office.
